D.E. v Unifund Assurance Company (2014 ONSC 5243) – In this case, an action was brought against R.E. and two other Grade 8 students as a result of alleged acts of bullying and assault. The plaintiff eventually amended her claim to add the parents of the three children as defendants. Specifically, it was alleged that the parents failed to investigate, remedy, or prevent the on-going physical and psychological harassment by the minor defendants for whom they are responsible in law.
